Sunnyside
This kitchen was dark and needed a face lift. We removed the existing backsplash, the black laminate countertops, the old linoleum floor, the tiny island that was completely impractical for these clients and added a fresh new paint colour. We also expanded the space by removing a portion of the wall leading to the basement which made a beautiful difference! A new quartz counter with a beautiful stone design, mixed with greys and charcoal elevate the wood cabinetry, but still keeps some interest within this space. We really wanted to keep the backsplash light so we opted for a slab glass backsplash which reflects the natural light coming in and also gives a slightly modern feel. For the floor, we ripped up the linoleum and decided to lay down cork flooring, which is super sustainable and very easy on your joints. Removing the tiny island allowed us to replace it with a small counter height bistro table. We chose one with a glass top paired with contemporary upholstered stools. Sometimes, changing some minor details immediately makes a difference and you can enjoy your space without breaking the bank.
